Modern Dance for Beginners
by Sarah Phelps
Abbey Theatre Studio, St Albans
21st to 25th May 2019
Modern Dance for Beginners is an insightful, honest, naughty and complex play revolving around commitment, fidelity, love, marriage and sex.
With quick witted and fiery dialogue we observe characters wrestling with a lack of satisfaction amongst their stinging cynicism and ever present unmet hunger for love.
Two skilled actors take on 8 roles in this hilarious merry-go-round of adultery, comedy and misdirected passion.
The Herts Advertiser said the production was a "hilarious, poignant and impressive two-hander" which "plays for laughs and certainly succeeds" with "excellent performances, directed with a light and comedic touch", accompanied by fantastic audience feedback:
“loved it, mesmerising, thoroughly hypnotic, seriously brilliant, had to wipe away tears of both poignancy and laughter".
